Lost Without My Theme

I have escaped the confines of a 20 member blogosphere to wind up here, on the Big Web.  I’m a little lost at the moment, but happy to be free!  Thanks Aaron, for helping me jump ship.

Also, I’d really like my Ocular Professor theme back.  But are these really the directions I have to follow to get it?  Yikes, I only half understand half of those steps, and the other half, eh, I’m like this Webkin abandoned in the grass.  Little help here?  If you want to tell me to search around the WordPress forums, consider it done.  But methinks there is a cheat sheet faster to way to accomplish the goal…  At least, I dearly hope so, my bog doesn’t like being mushed into this format.

  1. Nice job with the export/import!

For now, I’d chose one of the default themes listed for you to choose. Directly editing or customizing CSS on wordpress.com is not free! :(

  2. Thanks! It was easy, like you said. I did see on the dashboard where you choose upgrades and pay an annual fee if you want to customize. I’d be willing to spring for it if I thought I’d be successful with downloading and installing. But wow- pages and pages of detailed directions. Lots of which are in a language I don’t yet speak. Can you recommend a link or a book which would give me the Newbies Guide to Success at this? Or do you think the WordPress forums are my best shot?

  3. Eeep! Answered my own question. Now I’m on PressRow but fully intend to graduate to the full-on photoblog, Monotone, after we’re done with the Usable Library projects. Who knew the default themes were so great? And yeah, I’ve started plowing through the WordPress forums et, al. Gosh, I’m starting to heart CSS too. It’s so amazing the way themes just slip seamlessly over your site. Like a really expensive sweater someone gave you as a gift and you’re astonished at how well it fits and how much you like it.
